NAFTA WORK PERMITS TO CANADA

You are eligible for NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) Work Permit if you are a citizen of the USA or Mexico.

NAFTA is a treaty between Mexico, the USA, and Canada to promote trade and easier access for skilled workers. Under the agreement, eligible workers can come to NAFTA member countries on a temporary work permit.

One important advantage of the NAFTA program is that it does not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). It means you need not have to obtain a positive LMIA to be eligible for a Canadian work permit.

You can find the list of all occupations eligible under NAFTA here. Intra-company transferees from the US or Mexican companies can also come to Canada under NAFTA. Though they do not require LMIA, it is mandatory that the applicant must be in a managerial/executive role, or his occupation must be one that requires specialized knowledge.

To obtain a NAFTA Work Permit, the applicant, as well as the employer, must undertake a substantial application process. The application for a Canadian Work Permit needs to get approval. Toronto Advocates LLP is ready to help you in obtaining approval for your application, any time!

If you have already received your Canadian job offer, we shall work with both you and your potential employer to help you come to Canada as soon as possible.
